Cotaplan recently completed the design, manufacture, and installation of a state-of-the-art modular classroom building for Sparsholt College. This project demonstrates the efficiency and adaptability of modular construction, especially in educational environments where minimising disruption is critical.
Site and Foundation Work
The groundwork involved complex cut-and-fill earthworks, including retaining walls to manage the landscape’s natural gradients. Our team also installed car parks, footpaths, and comprehensive landscaping to integrate the new classroom seamlessly into the campus. Due to the challenging ground conditions at Sparsholt, we implemented a specialised foundation design to ensure structural integrity.
Time-Efficient and Disruption-Free
Because the building was manufactured off-site in our controlled facility, the on-site construction time was significantly reduced, minimising disruptions to college operations. Modular construction’s speed and efficiency meant the college could continue its academic schedule with little interference, a major advantage over traditional construction methods. The portability of modular buildings also means future flexibility for the college: If they ever need to relocate or expand this building, it can be easily modified or moved to another part of the campus.
Interior Fit-Out and Bespoke Finishes
Internally, the building reflects a modern educational setting, featuring high-end bespoke furniture and premium finishes, tailored to Sparsholt College’s requirements. From custom flooring to advanced IT systems, every detail was designed with higher education in mind.
