Cotaplan have delivered their latest modular classroom building for Coventry Council. The building was installed during the school holidays due to the extensive groundworks package that formed part of our contract.
What was used in the interior?
The interior has a durable vinyl-faced plasterboard finish to the walls and suspended ceilings throughout – making it easy to maintain in the future. With the addition of air-conditioning and LED lighting, the completed building provides a comfortable learning environment.
Vinyl-faced plasterboard is a perfect solution for a modular building. It provides a quick and efficient solution for panelling and with short lead times, it’s practical when working on high-volume projects.
What did we use on the exterior?
The exterior has been provided with Thermowood cladding. Thermowood is a heat-treated timber that is more stable and less likely to twist and crack as it ages. It can be left to fade and silver over time or be treated to help retain its colour.
Thanks to its enhanced durability and reduced moisture content, Thermowood resists warping and retains its shape far better than natural timber. This ensures long-lasting performance with minimal maintenance. Additionally, its natural resistance to mould, decay, and insects adds to its appeal.
Unlike chemically-treated timber, Thermowood poses no health risks. Contact with chemically-treated wood, or even exposure to its surrounding air, can be harmful. Thermowood provides a safe, non-toxic alternative for your building needs.
The anthracite fascias, windows, and plinths help to frame the building as part of the existing modern buildings on site.
