King’s Lynn 2-Story Modular School Welfare Block
Cotaplan completed a 2-story modular school welfare block in King’s Lynn earlier this summer.
The project presented several challenges due to its location on a floodplain with made-up ground. Foundations were designed to distribute the building weight safely and raise it above flood level. Our engineers implemented simple reinforced concrete piers to solve the problem, reducing both time and costs. The drainage system was also carefully designed to minimise flooding risks after construction.
The wedge-shaped site required a design that optimised space, accommodated modules of varying sizes, and allowed access around the building for maintenance.
